ICS-100 Introduction to the Incident Command System
Learning Outcomes:
- Explain the principles, purpose, and benefits of the Incident Command System (ICS)
- Describe the relationship between ICS and NIMS in effective incident management
- Identify and apply the 14 NIMS management characteristics (e.g., common terminology, modular organization, span of control, accountability, etc.)
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of the Incident Commander, Command Staff, and General Staff
- Differentiate between incident command and incident coordination Interpret the use of ICS in both planned events and emergency incidents
- Apply ICS concepts to case studies and scenarios in order to demonstrate understanding of command, coordination, and communication
